 Bosnia
and Herzegovina
The people of Bosnia and Herzegovina speak the same
language they all speak Bosnian, which by locals is called "Bosanski"
Languages: Bosnian 99% Ethnic groups: Muslim(Bosnians) 45.5%, Serb 31%, Croat 17%
Other 7.5% Religions: Muslim 45.5%, Orthodox 31%, Catholics
17% z Other 7.5%
Historically, Bosnians were a pretty tolerant lot, their land peopled with practitioners of Islam, Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Protestantism, Judaism and other religions and ideologies. Their art and architecture reflected this diversity, as did
their cuisine. Food plays a major part in the rules
of hospitality, as well as in many of
the religious and cultural traditions. Muslim Bosnians are forbidden to eat pork! The country's Eastern background is evident
in its cuisine of grilled meats

"At the beginning of April the ethnic cleansing of
northern and eastern Bosnia began as Serbian forces
started to clear Muslim and Croats from villages earmarked as ethnically Serb."
"Ethnic cleansing was the logical outcome of the mission to
‘carve up’ Bosnia into ethnic territories, agreed by Presidents Tudjman and Milosevic and peculiarly
endorsed by the EC in a softer,
more tactful edition at the Lisbon EC summit of 1992."
Muslim prisoners in camps. “The prisoners are horribly thin, raw-boned, some are
almost cadaverous, with skin like parchment folded
over their bones. Their faces are lantern-jawed, and their eyes are haunted by
the inimitable, empty stare of the prisoner, dumb with fear, who has no
idea what is going to happen to him next.”
Millions of Muslims lost their homes. Serbian soldiers were
going to Muslim households and kicking
them out of their own homes. Muslim people lost their homes, families and
belongings.

During the war, many people lost their jobs unnecessary
because they were Muslim. Employers were forced to fire their
Muslim employees. A lot of buildings were bombed, or trashed, so after the war there was not a lot left.

“The number of Muslims who were expelled from their
homes in Serb-occupied areas of Bosnia is usually placed
at between 700,00 and one million.”

"The charity War Child brought a mobile bakery to after te fall
of Vukovar, November 1991. Mostar in
the wake of the Washington agreement a which brought an uneasy peace to the
city ."
